Graymade delivered civil remediation and lagoon renewal works at Orchard Hills Water Filtration Plant, restoring the operational capacity of Lagoon 3 within the site's sludge drying bed system. The works included site establishment, sediment and erosion controls, vegetation clearing, desludging operations, removal and replacement of the existing geofabric layer, installation of a new sand filtration bed and reinstatement of rip rap protection around inlet and outlet structures. Graymade also coordinated sludge handling and loading activities to support the disposal program and prepare the lagoon for recommissioning.
In addition to the lagoon restoration works, Graymade completed remedial repairs to the inlet and outlet pipework structures, including concrete crack repairs, rectification of concrete spalling, repairs to pipe support structures, replacement of damaged brackets and fixings, and remediation of deteriorated structural elements associated with the lagoon's inlet and outlet infrastructure.
Delivered within an operational water treatment facility, the project required careful environmental management, sequencing and coordination to ensure the lagoon and associated infrastructure could be safely returned to service. The completed works restored critical sludge handling infrastructure, improved asset reliability and increased the long term resilience of the Orchard Hills Water Filtration Plant.
