Orchard Hills WFP - Lagoon 3 Desilting

Client

Sydney Water

Scope of Works

The rehabilitation of Lagoon 3 at the Orchard Hills Water Filtration Plant involved vegetation clearing, site preparation, and the mobilisation of earthmoving equipment to restore a key sludge drying asset. We mechanically removed accumulated sludge from the lagoon 3000+ tonnes, managed stockpiling operations, loaded material for re-use, removed the existing geofabric layer, and prepared the lagoon base for reconstruction.

Rehabilitation works included the installation of new geofabric, placement of a 200mm sand filtration layer, and reinstatement of rip-rap protection around inlet and outlet structures. Following completion of the earthworks, the lagoon was restored, tested, commissioned, and returned to operational service.
