Graymade delivered specialised civil remediation works to Fine Screen No. 6 at North Head Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF), addressing deterioration within the screening chamber and restoring the long term durability of this critical wastewater treatment asset. The scope focused exclusively on civil refurbishment activities within the Fine Screen chamber, supporting the broader renewal program for the inlet works facility.

The works included comprehensive concrete remediation and repair, replacement of deteriorated joint sealants, repair of spalled and damaged concrete, high-pressure cleaning and preparation of chamber surfaces, and refurbishment of associated structural elements affected by the harsh wastewater environment. A key component of the project was the removal and replacement of sections of the existing protective chamber lining with a new AKS HDPE concrete protection liner, providing a fully welded, chemically resistant barrier designed to protect the concrete structure from biogenic corrosion and aggressive sewer environments.

Working within a confined space operational wastewater facility, Graymade carefully planned and executed the remediation works to maintain safety, quality and environmental compliance while restoring the condition of the chamber. The completed works have extended the service life of Fine Screen No. 6, improved asset protection, and enhanced the long-term resilience of a critical component within the inlet treatment process.
